This is nice. “Keys N Krates” is the band of Canadien DJ JR Flo, of the “EH! Team”, Matisse (Keys) and Adam Tune (drums), who just dropped their first mixtape // Live-Remixing 101, a journey through the history of hiphop and dance music. The cool thing about it is that various classics get ripped apart, chopped up and then rebuild in real time which makes this tape stand out. There is no track list but the tape hosts names such as Mos Def, ATCQ, Fugees, Simian Mobile Disco and Justice just to name a few… It’s good party stuff – just give it a run!
Ok! Here`s them pics from last Friday, ohsodefinetely our best party at Studio672 so far in terms of Hands In The Air and general level of Madness. If you`ve been there: Thank You! Everyone else: You missed a rather splendid night, for real. Back next month where we will celebrate our 1 Year Anniversary with a special guest and hopefully you. Don`t say you didn`t know…
To end the topic of “Can`t Fake…” we got another edit for you, in fact it`s more of a remix than an edit but what the heck. O.Boogie is no stranger to our readers anymore, just scroooooooll down or hit the “Amsterdam” Tag and you will get mucho more goodness from him.
Together with Tom Trago (watch the Patta video in my previous post which i found just yesterday) Boogie flipped and chopped Geraldine Hunt`s classic to the max, probably the most creative Edit slash Remix of them three. Needs to be played out LOUD and late to ensure proper damage, works wonders.
All the best to the whole Amsterdam crew, see you soon!
Nice little vieo featuring some dope stuff next to familiar music faces like FS Green or Tom Trago (see above). I really hope that Stussy Flagship store is already open when I`m in Amsterdam next week, me wants to check that one out badly.
True Dat! Killer Disco Track that has been re-edited a few times lately, thanks to Flipperi from Top Billin who put me on to this in the first place, stating that the Loudtone Edit you find below is serious “Crap” because it`s not quantized properly. Caught me on the half a few times as well when playing this out but a properly set Serato Loop comes to the rescue here.
Anyways, recently another edit of this popped up and it sounds much better in terms of mastering, “looking” at the track itself I have to say i still like the Loudtone Edit better, more climax. Decide for yourself.
This one has been a real staple in my sets when i still used to play out vinyl only, amazing production from no other than Sly & Robbie back from 1983. There`s a good Larry Levan Remix of this one too but i always preferred the original vocal. Classic Ish.
And yet another remix of “se tune” Night by Night but fear not people – it`s a blazer! Canada`s finest Smalltown Pete & Mike did a really good job on this one, quite housey and even a little bit” funky” if we dare say so, Cowbells FTW! The boys got Calgary on lock with their regular Clubnight at the Hifi Club and soon they will hop over to Europe to play a couple of choice gigs, check them dates on their myspace and visit their blog for all things Smalltown.
This blog is mostly about music appreciation, for real. Rather than participating in nowadays "we were first" blog game we focus on timeless tracks and a few exclusives we think you should hear and play out. There simply is too much crap around. Anyways, if you own the copyright in something that is up here and want an audio link removed or feel like getting in contact for whatever reason please email to holla [at] 123rakete.de.
Other than that we are three DJ`s from Cologne running a monthly clubnight, dj around elsewhere a bit, enjoy both vinyl and mp3`s next to some other random stuff.
