If I could travel back in time

Funny how things can change!

When I started to collect records, my focus was mainly on Hiphop and associated genres like Funk, Soul and even Jazz and although disco could easily be a part of this realm, I wanted no part of it. Mostly, I found disco to be too cheesy, too soft, too boring. Lucky me, I found my way into disco and dance music and I get a ton of joy out of it. Maybe its like with fish sticks and sushi, while fish sticks are usually very easy to like, it normally takes some time before one appreciates the greatness of sushi. Anyway, if I could travel time I surely knew where I would go!

Storm Queen I Morgan Geist

Definitely a breath of fresh air and a step into an awesome direction! Admittedly, if it wasn’t for Phonica I wouldn’t know much about this new project. Nevertheless, everything I just learned sounds great. With Storm Queen Morgan Geist reverts to the analog approaches towards recording house music with a disco pedigree. Apparently, this project is mainly  inspired by classic house music from New York, Chicago and Detroit. Love that! The best part about it though, the physical releases will be put out on limited edition 12″ vinyl-singles only, which is something I fully endorse.

A Disco Read

Disco Fever!

Can`t Fake (O.Boogie & Tom Trago Flip)

To end the topic of “Can`t Fake…” we got another edit for you, in fact it`s more of a remix than an edit but what the heck. O.Boogie is no stranger to our readers anymore, just scroooooooll down or hit the “Amsterdam” Tag and you will get mucho more goodness from him.

Together with Tom Trago (watch the Patta video in my previous post which i found just yesterday) Boogie flipped and chopped Geraldine Hunt`s classic to the max, probably the most creative Edit slash Remix of them three. Needs to be played out LOUD and late to ensure proper damage, works wonders.

All the best to the whole Amsterdam crew, see you soon!

Can`t Fake The Feeling

Can`t Fake

True Dat! Killer Disco Track that has been re-edited a few times lately, thanks to Flipperi from Top Billin who put me on to this in the first place, stating that the Loudtone Edit you find below is serious “Crap” because it`s not quantized properly. Caught me on the half a few times as well when playing this out but a properly set Serato Loop comes to the rescue here.

Anyways, recently another edit of this popped up and it sounds much better in terms of mastering, “looking” at the track itself I have to say i still like the Loudtone Edit better, more climax. Decide for yourself.

Love On The Line

Love On The Line

Pretty nice midtempo disco jam from 1984, once again the instrumental does the job for me here.
